Violence in Kenya - Can you help?

Hello Friends,

I am sad to include this latest update for your review today. As you may know HELP has supported a water purification operation in the southwest area of Kenya with a village water purification system and the training to operate it safely and effectively. We have also been visited here in Arizona by other native Kenya relief agency personnel and have received numerous pleas for assistance.

The following letter came in just this morning from Pastor John Obyo Njoni. John has operated an outreach to orphans and has requested our assistance in setting up a medical clinic operation to help address the ever worsening HIV/AIDS challenge in that area as well as a horrific chronic malaria problem.

You may have seen the news stories this week on CNN, Fox News, the BBC and elsewhere about the killings in Kenya following the election there. The news coverage was mostly focused in the village where John endeavors to assist the many there in desperate need.

Here a small church is where many fled to find refuge amidst the chaos that broke out, only to be locked inside and burned alive. The photos attached are of that area and some of the people effected. Please also take the quick read on the link John included of a short BBC story. The word “horrific” hardly does justice to describe what these people endured.

With our plans this year for clinic projects in India, the Philippines, Darfur and possibly the Democratic Republic of the Congo, we are already stretched beyond our financial capabilities. We desperately need support and others to collaborate with us to get badly needed aid into these various locations.

The following letter is just one of many I receive each week. Please help us to find the support we need to help these hurting people. We pledge to be completely transparent to those whom we collaborate with. Can you help us help them?

Randy

Dear Randy,

People are killing each other like goats here in Kenya due to the dispute in the just ended general elections. The former President cheated with the results. We are fine by the mercies of God.The only thing that I would request is that you continue to pray for us and also remember to send us any financial support since our homes were burnt to ashes and we have nowhere to go to.We are just hiding in the bush with my children. The little food that we had, we shared with other families and we don’t have anything left with us.We are starving with the children. The food stores are open but we don’t have the money to buy it.Attached are pictures of what happened to keep you updated.Keep in touch and God bless you for remembering us in your prayers.People burned in a church in my city of Eldoret.
