I am Fernando Alfaro, a bolivian guy living in Montreal since 2005.

Passionate about technology I studied systems engineering and focused my career on Internet and web technologies. Living in a third world country has given me a real vision of how hard and unfair life can be. I am committed to using my profession and passion to change the world into a better place.

Shortly before finishing university I started working for CARE in Bolivia in computer technical support. During the next 5 years I acquired more responsibilities and assumed the Webmaster and Data Base Administrator position.

I have collaborated on several IT projects with international organizations such as CARE Canada, The Pan-American Health Organization, The Global Fund, and the Coordinator for the International Non-Profit Organizations in Bolivia. I truly believe that information technology has a key role to play in the developing world. I joined RETHOS following my ideal of merging my profession with my ethos.

I am also a music lover. I played the bass guitar in several bands including styles ranging from Heavy Metal to Bolivian folk music. I love Latin-American rock music because it is the most visceral expression of the struggles that people in the region experience. I consider my self a rocker geek since technology and rock music are and will always be in my life.
