Electric Cars Legalized in Vancouver

"Vancouver city council voted Tuesday afternoon to give a green light to low-speed electric vehicles..."

"...The small light cars are already allowed under B.C. law to travel on
roads with a speed limit of 40 km per hour or less, but are only
allowed on roads with faster speed limits when municipalities vote to
permit them..."

At least there is some progress! Way to Go Zenn and the province of British Columbia :)

Oil and Commodities Distortion

The present "failure" of the markets, as it has been called by some, is indeed evidenced by the enormous disconnect between the operating costs and profits of the major commodities suppliers and finishers. However, this is not a generic failure of the market system, as it is directly attributable to governmental over-intervention and unsound currency.

As it is, the markets, as well as the flow of money, are distorted NOT by the

Current World View: Askew

A look at the Bush Administration and the long-reaching arm of globalization.

A few notes:
1) The watery picture is a shot of oil floating on the water after the Exxon Valdez spill.

2) Some people have asked me: why the pictures of Darfur and the protests against China? Well, our influence and our choices affect everyone. Africa is ripe for the plundering - both America and China want those resources badly. Civil war, genocide, and the destruction of autonomous states all help one or both nations get what they want. So while poor people in places like ...

The Chinese Connection : The Red Dragon's tacit support of the Darfur Genocide

In 1994 China, an emerging super power, desperately in need of new oil sources helped a poor Government in Khartoum convert the Sudanese nation into oil exporters. In the 14 years since, as the oil and the money flowed, the relationship between the two nations has blossomed.

Today, China accounts for a quarter of Sudan’s imports and for nearly 70% of it’s, oil led, exports. The economic monopoly enjoyed by China through soft loans and state owned company investing in the Sudanese economy resulted, from its outset, in an incredible amount of Chinese poli...

Electricity, atomic energy, bio fuel, hydrogen, peanut oil, and alcohol: what do all of these have in common? The answer is that they have all been considered as a means to power those four-wheeled vessels that we use to go to the store and get our peanut butter and orange juice. All of these fuels have, at one point or another, been considered the future energy of the world, or at least a pleasant alternative to one of the more common types of fuels out there. And yet, for all of our research and development, our cunning and skill, none of these has produced a widespread and useful vehi...

The $10 per Gallon World

c/o Adei Ressi Blog (see link below)

We are already living in a $10 per gallon of gasoline world. Did that get your attention? Here are some things to think about:

The average yield of gasoline per barrel of oil differs widely based on the quality of the oil (logical), ranging from 5% to 30% of the 42 gallons in a barrel when using straightforward conversion methods. The price per barrel of oil that you read about is normally the “good stuff” (Texas or Arabian grade), yielding over 12 gallons of gasoline per barrel and as much as two thirds in prime conditions.</p...

Forget the Electric Car: This one runs on compressed air!

When I first saw this article I thought it was a joke until I watched the BBC video linked to it. This car costs about three grand, goes 200 km on a single tank of compressed air. No pollution and just a couple of dollars to fill the tank. How quickly will big oil see to it that the inventors are murdered, production halted, and any and all reference to it expunged from the national media?
